You get what you pay for and thats what I got: I damn good saw for less than $150.00. I gave it 5 stars because it does what it is supposed to do. Had I paid a penny more, the stars would begin to dim, because will find that the casing is cheap plastic and miter gauge sticks, and the stand is a little clunky. These are things that go away when I use a $600.00 table saw.

Bought the saw in Jan-08 and have been using it for a major moulding project. I've borrowed a Craftsman "Professional" compound miter saw in the past and learned what I would look for if I ever purchased this type of saw. When you buy this saw, I feel you get higher quality things you need, not a feature laden saw with mediocre components. You'll appreciate the tall fence, the blade guard, a dust bag that actually catches sawdust, a high quality miter table/gauge without stickers, a 15 amp motor, and a stout and sturdy frame. The miter lock is so much nicer than a screw type, and the detent override comes in handy for those angles close but not quite at the standard angles.

The saw I used in the past would collect sawdust between the swiveling miter table and the miter gauge, eventually making it difficult to adjust your angle, eventually forcing you to take the table apart for cleaning. I'm very impressed by how smoothly this table adjusts from side to side... Read more

I use this on the job a lot as a pro trim carpenter. I work for myself so I have to buy tools that will last and pay for themselves many times over before having to be replaced. This one is no exception and I am very pleased with it.

I also own a 12 inch double bevel Dewalt and that is a great saw too. I user the ten inch one for most of the trim in normal house. The twleve inch is better for crown and stair work.

This saw has adequate power and does not bog down unless you really try to rush it which is a bad idea to start with. I cut plenty of hardwood with it and have had no problems.
The saw is very accurate, mine was perfect out of the box.

You should add the laser and a better blade if you want to use this to it's full potential. Well for trim anyway, the blade on it is ok for general use.

I do precision work and this saw does good for me (With a better blade than comes on it). I would reccomend it to anyone looking for... Read more

Overall quality is impressive. I especially like the cam miter lock, miter scale quality, detent over-ride, vernier miter adjustment, blade brake, light weight, and powerful 15A motor. The included blade (40 tooth) is surprisingly good. The only con I found was the bevel pointer/bevel scale setup. The "point" doesn't line up with the bevel degree marker area by about 1/4 to 3/8's half inch. It makes you guess the degree of bevel + or - 3 degrees. The manual says to set the top edge of the bevel pointer as the read point for accuracy. The only problem is that the top edge of the bevel pointer is not on the same plane as the bevel scale, leaving you without a good point to read the bevel. This is a 10 cent part, which is not in keeping with the quality and features of the rest of the saw. Good luck and Merry Christmas. 12/25/07

I read a review about using better quality blades than came with it and I agree. Stuck the wood blade in for first try and it did not cut as expected. Put a better quality blade in it from my jigsaw collection and it cut like a hot knife through butter. Yep, use better blades. Only tried wood so far, but believe it will do fine with other materials as per specs.

If you've seen the commercial on TV it shows a tool that does it all, but its only half true. It can't cut any wood over 1 inch thick because the blade wanders. The T square keep getting hung up in the track and the hold down device is not designed to hold round stock. Its a good machine but not a great one..

Even when cutting pine the blade tries to follow the grain..The blade needs support at the top. I had very high hopes for it. Having a very small shop I thought it would be great. I wouldn't say it's junk but it's not as good as the commercials say...

Confession: From reading the reviews of this thing, I fully expected to get it, try it and send it back because it seemed from previous buyers that it was a piece of junk. However, I was pleasantly surprised by many of it's features and abilities. Since it came with free shipping, I figured I had little to lose.

Let me start by saying that the best tool there is, is the right one for the job. Depending on your needs, this may or may not be the tool for you. I needed this for four things.

1. Cut square aluminum profiles and have them be plumb and square: Check!
2. Cut 16 gauge X 6" sheet metal straight across and also be able to slot 1/4" slots for the brackets I am making: Check(with a slight modification)!
3. Cut plastic/PVC straight and accurately: Check!
4. Cut wood, mostly 1"x2"s for making jigs, etc.: Check!

As a woodworking beginner, I'm very focused on safety. I've read dozens of posts about fingers being severed on table saws. These accidents, it seems, are usually due to removed blade guards.

The uniguard is a blade guard you won't remove. The two split halves rotate back independently, so you can still guard the blade when cutting very thin pieces. And the guard hangs from above and rests on the work, so you can use it when performing non-through cuts.

The splitter that comes with the uniguard is its second great feature. It is easily removed for non-through cuts, and more to the point, easily replaced afterwards. The splitter is separate from the guard, so you can remove it and still guard the blade, unlike the standard blade guard that comes with the table saw.

I got my new Delta Unisaw with a 52" Biesemeyer Fence and I assembled it minus the blade guard it came with for obvious reasons...they get in the way! So, I figured I'd just go without until I made my first few cuts with this power horse machine. Well, I started having flashbacks of an accident that almost cost me my thumb a few months ago because the guard that came with the blade kept getting in the way. Remembering the sound of my hand hitting the blade and how quickly bad things can happen...I ordered the Deluxe Uniguard.

It came a day ahead of time on Fedex 3 Day Express. I opened it up and took out the plans AND as usual, there was no indication that this would fit on a saw with Biesemeyer Fence. The Deluxe Uniguard is a good value at $270 - and I took advantage of Amazon's $25 off sale so my final cost was $245. Such a deal!
Now the details:
The UPS people did their usual guerilla routine with the package. So even though Delta packs this guard very well using both wood and cardboard, UPS still destroyed it. On delivery day when I answered the doorbell, I found the 6 foot tall package at my door - one end crushed and wide open and the UPS driver already back in his truck and driving away.
Upon inspection I found that the plastic accessory tray was cracked and that the splitter assembly was nowhere to be found. It's probably on a UPS loading dock somewhere.
I called Delta immediately and to my suprise, a human answered the phone! No waiting, no music on hold and no message telling me how important my call was to them. I was apprehensive about this collection bag based on the reviews. However, for the price, and because I was generating a lot of saw dust, I decided to give it a try. I do have a rather powerful shop vacuum that I would sometimes attach to the saw for larger jobs, but that was always a hassle, and particularly for those occasional short cuts. So, I decided to try this dust bag.

To my pleasant surprise, it has worked very well. Apparently, Bosch has made some improvements since other reviews were written, since the bag I received was made of heavy cloth material and has a nice zipper in the bottom for easy saw dust removal. The bag collects virtually ALL the saw dust that goes through the dust port, and only when the neck of the bag got inadvertently restricted by the power cord did it ever clog up. On the occasions when I've attached the shop vacuum, I really have to say that I don't think it collected much more saw dust than this simple (and inexpensive) dust bag... Read more

This is a simple bag that's about 12" by 30" inches or so with a wire clip that goes around the dust port. It works pretty well in that everything expelled from the dust port goes into the bag, which is emptied by just shaking the sawdust out through the same opening.

All together it catches about 80 percent of the sawdust - about what one would expect. The cloth is a thin synthetic and there is no zipper or velcro to make it easier to empty.

This well-made dust collector for the Bosch Table Saw appears to be made of nylon and cotton and attaches to the dust port at the rear of the saw. It has a zippered bottom, and does collect sawdust. It is not as good as connecting to a shop vac but even with a shop vac you will still have sawdust to pick up--with any make of "job-site" saw. I frequently use my saw in a garage so I use the dust collector and I also place a cardboard box under the saw. A great deal of the sawdust goes into the box, quite a bit goes into the Bosch dust collector, and a goodly amount will still be all over the floor. This is the way with all saws of this type. The price was great $10.99, and I ordered it with a saw thus avoiding any shipping fees or sales tax. I do recommend this accessory as it is a help. I ordered it on January 30, with a delivery date on or before February 14. I received it before February 10. It was well-packed. I am more than happy with Amazon and Bosch.

The 2705X1 is powered by a 15 AMP motor that delivers 4,800 RPM with an electric brake for maximum productivity. The large cutting capacity (3-5/8 inches at 90° and 2-1/2 inches at 45°) can rip 4X material in one pass, and can use up to a 13/16-inch dado blade. The 2705X1 also features a tool-less modular blade guard system with adjustable dual side guards to allow for ease of measurement from the blade to the rip fence for cutting setups. The two on-board independent stowable anti-kickback pawls and riving knife/spreader allows for through cuts. This saw has plenty of power (over a 1,000 rpm higher than dewalt or bosch) and is the only job site saw that has the cutting capacity and power to cut 4x material in one pass. Table is nice size and extends easily when needing to cut wide material. The fence is good but not great as others have noted. The fence has several adjustments to square to the blade and increase clamping power. When ripping sheet goods or long 2x material it doesn't take much to bump out of alignment(but have experienced this with dewalt and bosch fences), but for cutting normal material it works great. I fixed the problem of cutting large material with a set of irwin quick-grip clamps that stay with the saw, that gives me the staying power for the fence when I need to cut large material. Almost everything on this saw is adjustable to true it besides lateral blade adjustment like on reviewer stated, but do any job site table saws have this feature? The 2705 saw is essentially the same saw as the 2704, except with a supposedly better blade guard. I won't comment on the blade guard at this time as I think they are almost as dangerous as they are safe. For someone who will be using the saw for straight cabinetwork, keep looking. For the contractor who needs a saw with plenty of power, and a variety of tasks on various jobsites, it definately worth considering.

Pros. Legendary Makita Power. The saw will actually rip a 4x4 in half in one pass, and not just
with a new blade.

Improved Rip Fence. Users of Makitas older table saws (2701,2702,2703) will definately
see some improvement here as the earlier saws rip fences must have been an afterthought

Stand is nice with the adjustable height. Could have used larger wheels though

We bought this saw when it first came out back around 2006. We use it almost every day in our production trim business. In a typical week we will rip down thousands of feet of window, pocket door, caseing, bifold jamb, cabinet fillers, particle board stair treads and mdf sheets. Year after year. Last year we trimmed out over 120 homes with this saw with up to 5 carpenters at a time. In our line of work we know of crews that trim less houses and burn up more saws. The motor in this saw should outlast anything else out there. The MDF dust we have to deal with these days does not phase this saw. That is the good. Here is the bad. This is not a cabinet saw. If you are doing paint grade production work and a lot of it this is the saw for you. The fence can be aggravating until you figure out how to adjust it. And then it can still be a pain. I bought this same saw about a year ago at Lowes, I paid something like $150 for it. It's a great saw, really smooth and comfortable to use. Works great for cutting trim boards, but I've also used it as a chop saw to cut 2x6's, it doesn't bog down one bit when cutting larger stock. It's a little heavy, but to me that just means it's built better. It's also quiet compared to other miter saws I've used. This is definitely a great deal! I'm almost tempted to buy a second as a backup!

Received the Hitachi C10FCE2 yesterday after a longer wait than usual from Amazon. But still within the window they specify.

Assembled the saw accessories in about 5 minutes (flip over fence, rear stabilizer bar, and hold down) and took it out to my shop. First up was a standard pine 2x4. Plugged in the saw and gave the trigger a pull. The first thing I noticed as a nice soft start mechanism, very nice. The blade started spinning and had little to no vibration. I love the horizontal anti vibe handle. Pulled the saw down and cut through the 2x4 like a hot knife through butter. I was impressed at this price point. Next up were some miter cuts. 52 degrees left and right, no problem. The indicator is very thin which makes for more exacting measurements, again very nice. Next up, bevel. Went to 45 degrees, gave the handle a tug and i had a clean 45 degree bevel. Checked the angles and they were spot on, right from the factory. I cut 2x6's, stacked 2 2x4's, and stacked 2 2x6's... I received this saw as a Christmas present in 2007. I've used it nearly every other weekend since, and the only complaint I have is with the manual. This was my first miter saw so I wanted to be sure that it was put together correctly, but the instructions were nearly incomprehensible. But, since I'm a guy and am used to not reading directions (j/k) I figured it out eventually.

This saw is very powerful relative to other models in this price range. I had looked at the Dewalt saws, but didn't really think the quality of construction was the same since Black & Decker bought them out a few years back. I've used this to cut 4x4" treated posts and it slices through them like a hot knife through butter, with no motor lag at all. The sawdust catch-bag is a nice feature, but doesn't catch it all. I wasn't expecting it to, and having ANY of it get caught is a plus, and simply less clean up for me once the project is finished.

The extension is a great add to the Bosch 4000 saw. It installs easily and operates smoothly. The extension is all steel construction and uses aluminum brackets to attach to the underside of the table. The extra support is great for crosscutting long boards and definitely saves time not having to setup sawhorses or roller supports.

A tip to the perfectionist group - the extension does have a minor amount of slop/droop (about 1/16" in my case) when extended. I remedied the problem with one 1/4" internal tooth lock washer placed between the bracket and the body of the saw on both the front and rear. Torque it down to flatten the washer as much as possible being careful not to strip the saw housing. Placing the washer on the inside bolt of the two keeps the extension fairly level throughout the span of the extension.

There seem to be plenty of conflicting reviews on both the left side extension and the outfeed extension, and I've made this video to clear them up. Issues cleared up:
- The front bar for the left side extension is short enough to not hit the red lever for the right side extension.
- Both left side extension and outfeed extension come with a stop knob for securing the extensions either open or closed.
- Both extensions sag just a little, which I fixed by placing a washer (approx 0.043 in thick) between the brace and the tablesaw for the _back_ bolt on each bracket. This modification brought it very close to level, for just over $2 in washers at my local big box hardware store.

I do say a few odd words here and there in the video (quarters when I meant washers, etc.) But I'm sure you can figure it out.

My left side support arrived with the threads missing from one of the support rods. It appears to have been misformed during the machining process. I had to contact Amazon for a replacement, which they promptly sent out at their expense. They also paid for return shipment of the defective unit.

Others have noted that they shimmed the inside mount slightly to compensate for droop. There is a bit of adjustment in the support arm itself- allowing you to adjust it up by a 16th or so.

Here's a tip: If you purchase the rear support as well, you'll notice that the aluminum support brackets are tapped and include a 'set screw' which is useful to lock the position of the support both for transport, and during use. For some reason, the left support does not include this feature. I picked up a similar thumb screw/ set screw from my local hardware store and added the same functionality to my left side support. I have had this table saw for 1 year and have done a few woodworking projects with it. Its small size makes it desirable for a small shop. It seems to have plenty of power to cut everything that I have used this saw to cut. The dust collection bag works good. The saw has two problems, 1. the grooves for the miter guide is 5/8 not the typical 3/4. Almost all other saws are 3/4 and all after market miter guides are 3/4. So none of the attachments that are out there to help you be more accurate with your cuts will fit this table saw. Problem 2. the arbor for the saw blade is too short to allow for using a dado blade assembly.

It was a long time coming but its finally here. The DW7450 makes the DW745 more useable to say the least. Nice quality stand that is strong yet not over built keeping the weight down. Its also nice that it folds so the saw and the stand remain very mobile. I found that using four cotterless hitch pins instead of the provided bolts to mount the saw to the stand makes the whole system much easier and faster to assemble and disassemble. A+ Dewalt. A simple design that should have been released at the same time as the saw. Better late than never.

I used this stand with my saw while putting down about 700 sq ft of laminate flooring. Our house has lots of odd angles, so there were plenty of long angled rips of the flooring. The saw was rock solid on this stand, I never felt it move, tip, shake, etc. The bolts they give you to attach the saw to the stand are a bit ridiculous, I don't see most folks taking the time to fiddle with them. I used some cotterless hitch pins based on the suggestion of one of the other reviewers, but I don't feel like they really added anything. I might try longer ones or something else, but you probably don't really need anything, the weight of the saw and the design of the stand seem sufficient to keep things in place.

The outfeed support is a handy thing to have on a table saw. The only problem that I have encountered in useing it is that flexible materials like thin plywood tend to flex between the saw and the outfeed support and hit the support instead of going on top of it. This problem can be fixed by using a peice of scrap as a 'brige' to help the material make it onto the suport.

After reading some of the poor reviews for this product I had some reservations.When I unpacked and assembled the extention I soon discovered the problems others had described.1st the miter guide slots don't align with the notches in the extention.2nd the sliding rails are too far apart, one owner had elongated the mounting holes to address this.The actual problem is in the illustrations in the instructions! The pictures of the model 4000 saw and the 4001 saw are reversed.Simply mount one bracket facing outward[the one with the lock knob]and the other facing inward,as pictured for the model 4001,and the extention fits and operates smoothly! Perhaps BOSCH should correct the instructions instead of agreeing they had made a manufacturing error to appease a dissatisfied customer. I hope this helps others who encounter this problem.

After much research I finally bought the Dewalt Table Saw stand. I had read the reviews but more than that I have owned the Dewalt Miter Saw stand since it hit the market (still the best stand currently being sold). This stand looked very much like the same technology but better! It is highly compact. It is made out of all high quality materials. The stand is a design masterpiece. I mounted a Makita 8" table saw with a Rousseau Porta Max Jr. extension table on it. We had to add some runners to the bottom of the saw to match up with the mounting rails for the stand. That was it. We mounted everything up and gave the saw the big test. We ripped full sheets of 3/4" treated plywood with the saw with no problem. I would have never attempted this with the stand the saw came with. I used to use my foot to try and keep the saw from tipping over when we tried the big rip. The saw and new stand didn't budge. I bought the Saw Stand in December of '08. I didn't really like the assembly instructions but got it together okay. The stand is used for my Dewalt 10" table saw just as it was intended. It was a good match and I am totally satisfied with both the saw and the stand. All of the comments that I have read have been positive and reviewers have given it five stars. I concur and give it five stars as well. It goes from storage to setup with ease and I can move it around with ease. The balance of the saw and stand together is phenomenal. The handle for pushing and pulling the stand around on the wheels is just the right size and tucks out of the way when you don't need it. I can move the whole package up and down the step (into and out of the shop) with ease. I have never felt out of control when moving the saw around. It's about time some body came up with a truly "portable" table saw stand. This stand is so portable, it takes the back breaking task, (for one person), to load/unload a so called portable table saw in and out of a pickup or van by themself!!! I have to admit, I'm not much of a Dewalt fan, but my hat is certainly off to whom ever got this setup right. Talk about knockin one out of the park! I'm a full time carpenter, 7 days a week, who loads and unloads tools out of pickups and or cargo trailers every day, and this stand just made my life so much better. I can only hope that all you people doing this kind of work, will take a good hard look at this stand. You'll thank yourself for getting one. I can't think of one bad thing to say about this stand other than,what took you so long?! p.s. this technology would rock if used to redesign the DW723 miter saw stand!
